I have received a number of emails from people asking if I was going to do the blog this football season. The answer to that is yes. I am so excited that college football is about a month away. Everyone should be doing their preseason research right now. Go get a preseason magazine and start reading up. I am curious to hear some of your thoughts about who are the sleeper teams this year and who are the overrated ones. Here are some of my early thoughts.
Clemson, man they are loaded on offense. Early I am really drinking the Clemson Koolaid. They need to do two things this season if they want to have a great one. First they need to protect the QB, and secondly they need to win their stinking games in the late regular season. They always seem to come out guns a blazing, and then late in the season they just fall apart.
Unlike Clemson, I am not drinking the Georgia Koolaid. They look absolutely loaded this year, and I am sure they will be a very good team, but I don't see them coming out of the SEC. For whatever reason this team cannot beat Florida, with the exception of last year, and I think they are going to fall to the Gators again this year. Something tells me they could have 3 losses in the regular season.
I am shocked that Ohio St. gets so much preseason love. Haven't we watched them get destroyed the last two national championship games. Now that means that they are good, but it also means that the Big 10 is so overrated. The Buckeyes big game against USC will tell us a lot about them, but don't be surprised if that is their only loss this season and they end up back in another BCS bowl. If they play a team with any sort of speed, you can expect another bowl loss.
The slow Big 10 is filled with early season pretenders (Penn St, Wisconsin, ...)
Arizona St. looks like it could make a run at a Pac 10 title this year with that high powered offense. But unless they can fix their offensive line, which gave up a boatload of sacks last year, the season will end with no Pac 10 trophy.
Well those are some of my early season thoughts, I am curious to hear some of yours.

hey rick! I'm glad to see your back! are you going to be covering nfl pre-season? As for the ncaa, i am liking the Gators and USC this year. I would see Okla being up there as well.
Hi Richard,
You know, i may make a few wagers on preseason, but only if I have a really good feeling about a game. I think the preseason is like a crap shoot.
i too can't wait for college football to start. i also love the gators this year. i think georgia will have their hands full with the gators, who i think will take the SEC. i think the sleeper teams will come from the big east this year. watch out for south florida who are returned nearly all their starters (as long as they don't choke in late regular season again) and west virginia. i think they proved that they're a legit team last year, even if they did lose slayton. thanks for doing this site rick.
Well Scott,
I enjoy doing the site, so it is my pleasure. Yeah I don't the WVU loses much with the loss of Slayton, seeing as how Devine is in the same mold. It pains me to think the Gators are going to win the SEC. I have a good buddy who is a giant Gator fan, and I can't stand them.
Rick,
Its about that time again...FOOTBALL SEASON!!!
I've got the Colts winning in the Super Bowl. I guess thats not really that bold of a pick. (I'm a huge Colts fan)
Also, being a Notre Dame guy, I see them having another crappy year. I hate to say it Rick, but I see the Gators winning the whole thing. Tebow wins the Heisman again too.
I think WVU is an elite team this year.
LSU's biggest loss was Hester, not QB.
Gators will score a lot of points and D won't be as bad. It comes down to health.
I hate to say it, but I think Ohio St. has a chance against USC and another shot at the title.
Oh yeah.
One more thing. All big 12 QBs suck. bunch of pudwackers.
whats up rick?. I followed u last year and hope its a calmer season than last year. You should break down the ncaa conferenes and tell us who u think is going to come out strong this year.
